If you are a Windows 10 user, surely you know the automatic connection to the Wi-Fi networks to which you have already been connected previously. However, this popular and widely used function does not always work correctly, this means that you have to connect to the Wi-Fi network manually, which does not favor our productivity.

When we connect to a new WiFi network on our Windows 10 computer, we usually check the box for the option that allows us to connect to that WiFi network in the future without having to enter the password or select it manually.
The problem arises when Windows 10 doesn’t automatically connect to your default Wi-Fi network, even if it has been configured to automatically connect to a specific Wi-Fi network. This problem is more common than we can believe, it is more common than we can believe, in fact, I recently experienced this problem on my computer with Windows 10 version: 1903
After investigating and carrying out several tests, I have managed to solve the problem and here are all the options and possibilities to force your Windows 10 computer to automatically connect to the WiFi networks to which I was previously connected.
Check if the Wi-Fi adapter is turned off in order to save power.
Windows 10 incorporates a feature that automatically disables the Wireless (WiFi) adapter when the operating system is inactive for a specified period of time. This function is generally responsible for preventing the connection to a Wi-Fi network automatically even if it is configured that way.
1) Perform Device Manager search using Windows search.
2) Once the Windows 10 results tool is selected, you will see how the interface will open in which you can see the tree of Network Adapters.
3) Here, you will have to right click on the entry of your Wi-Fi adapter and then click on the option Properties from the drop-down menu.
Note: The Wireless adapter built into your computer generally includes the words Wireless Adapter or AC Wireless in its name. If you have trouble determining your Wi-Fi adapter, check your computer’s manual or spec sheet.
4) When a small window appears you will have to go to the Power Management tab.
5) Uncheck the box shown next to the option: Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power. Before closing the window you will have to click OK to save the changes made.
6) Finally, you only have to Restart your computer so that from this moment your computer will automatically connect to the Wi-Fi networks to which you had previously been connected.
Disable Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter
a) Go back to Device Manager and display the network tree.
b) Find the entry Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter.
Note: If you can’t find it, you’ll need to click the View menu and then select Show hidden devices from the drop-down menu. This will make the Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter visible.
c): Right-click on the Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter entry and select the option: Deactivate. If you have multiple tickets Microsoft Wi-Fi Direct Virtual Adapter, right-click on all of them and select the option: Disable device.
d) Finally, when everything is configured correctly, you must restart your computer for the changes to take effect.
Reinstall the Wi-Fi adapter driver (Wireless)
If the first two options offered don’t fix the problem, reinstalling the Wi-Fi adapter driver might fix the problem.
1) Go back to the Device Manager tool and right click on the Wireless adapter integrated in your computer. Select option Properties in the drop-down menu.
2) Once the small window opens you will have to select the tab. Controller.
3) Here you will have to click on the option. Uninstall device.
4) Next line you will have to download the Wireless drivers for your WiFi network adapter. This can be done either from the official website of your Wireless adapter or from the website of your computer manufacturer.
5) Now run the downloaded Wireless Drivers installer to be able to use the WiFi adapter again.
Forget WiFi network and then reconnect to them with the “connect automatically” box checked.
Forgetting the network and then adding the Wi-Fi network again seems to fix the problem for many users as well. Here we show you how to do it:
a) Go to Settings> Network and Internet> Wi-Fi.
b) Click on the option: Manage known networks.
c) Select a Wi-Fi network by clicking on it to access the button: Stop remembering.
Note: This will forget the network and prevent automatic connection to that Wi-Fi network.
d) At this point, you will have to click on the Wi-Fi / network icon on the taskbar. Finally, you just have to click on the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to automatically. Don’t forget to check the box: Connect automatically.
e) Enter the password for the last time and that’s it. Every time your computer detects the Wi-Fi network, it will automatically connect to it.
