In general, the problem is that, although apparently Skype is correctly installed and configured, when we proceed to send a message, it is not sent. That is, the Windows 10 Skype program allows you to write the desired message, however when we send it, it gets stuck and is not sent to our interlocutor. This results in the impossibility of communication via Skype.
In a large percentage of times, the error can be fixed by restarting the system and rerunning Skype as administrator. Another possible solution is to update the Skype program to its latest version. However, there are other causes for this problem such as: proxy servers, group policy, problems with Skype servers, etc.
Be that as it may, if your internet connection is correct (you can browse websites), but Skype receives or sends messages, this post shows you how to fix it:
1) Use special commands to fix: Skype doesn’t send messages in Windows 10
– You can use some special commands in Skype to solve the problem. This method is especially effective when you can’t send messages to a specific user.
– To carry out this solution you will have to open the chat window with the desired Skype contact. In the text editor you will have to type the following commands one by one and press the Enter key after each command:
– The next step will be to close Skype and log in again.
– Line followed you will have to go back to the previous Chat and enter this new command:
– After pressing Enter, you will have to Restart the computer.
– When you have restarted your computer and accessed Skype again, you can send and receive messages through Skype again.
Important note: It should be noted that all the commands mentioned in this solution are special commands and the other chat participant will not receive such messages / commands.
2) Get admin permissions to fix: Skype won’t send messages in Windows 10.
If you use Windows 10 on a computer but your user account does not have administrator rights, this may be the problem that prevents the sending of messages. In these cases, the computer user with administrator rights may have restricted the use of Skype in your user account through Windows 10 group policy.
In this case, you should ask your system administrator to grant you permission to send messages through Skype.
3) Check proxy servers to fix: Skype doesn’t send messages in Windows 10.
Sometimes proxy servers prevent certain functionalities of some applications such as Skype. To avoid this possible problem we must temporarily deactivate the proxy servers. To do this, follow the steps that we show you below:
– Make use of the shortcut: Windows Telca + I.
– When the configuration is open you will have to go to: Network and Internet> Proxy.
– In this configuration screen you will have to activate the option switch: Automatically Detect Settings.
– On the other hand, you must deactivate the option switch: Use proxy server.
– After configuring these settings, you will have to restart the Windows 10 system to immediately check if you can send messages through Skype.
4) Check if Skype servers are up to fix: Skype does not send messages in Windows 10.
Skype’s servers are fairly stable and rarely go down; however, nothing is perfect, and this may rarely happen. Every server is exposed to DDoS attacks or maintenance work. The failure or temporary maintenance of Skype servers may be the cause of the inability to send messages.
The status of Skype’s servers can be checked from its official website: Skype servers status.
On this official website you will know the individual status of each of the servers as well as which part of the service is being affected by the crash of any of these servers.
5) Delete one of the version of Skype installed on your computer to solve: Skype does not send messages in Windows 10.
In case there are multiple versions of Skype installed on your Windows 10 operating system, they can interfere with each other and cause problems with either or both of them. It is recommended to uninstall one of the versions of Skype. Windows 10 users typically have two Skype installations: 1) The default Windows 10 app Y 2) the desktop version of Skype (program).
To uninstall one of the versions, you will have to:
– Click the Start button and go to Settings> Applications> Applications and features.
– In the list of applications, find and click on one of the versions of Skype.
– When the available options are displayed, you will have to select the option Uninstall.
After that, open Skype again to see if you can now send messages without any problem.
6) Reset Skype to fix: Skype does not send messages in Windows 10.
– You could reset the Skype app to the default settings, in case some setting was causing the problem that prevents sending messages.
– Go to Settings> Apps and features as explained in solution 4 and in the details of the Skype application you will have to select: Advanced Options.
– In the next window, you will have to scroll down and select the option Restore. This will return you to the default Skype settings.
If all the above-mentioned solutions fail, you might consider uninstalling Skype and reinstalling it on your Windows 10 computer.
