In Downloadsource.es we have already talked about the possibility of getting rid of the blue arrow icons on the icons of the files or program shortcuts. Well, this is not the only anomaly that we can observe in Windows 10, since there is also the possibility that all the icon of files and programs suddenly show a small yellow and blue shield.
Related: 3 Ways to Enable Hidden Administrator Account in Windows 10.
If you are familiar with Windows 10, you will know that this little shield over the files and programs icon means that when you double click on it, it will open as Administrator. This means if you have a standard Windows user account (without administrator rights).
We must also bear in mind that when we click on any of the shortcuts or files with the icon in the form of a shield, before opening we must accept the UAC notice that informs us if we want to open or access the program or file with administrator privileges . This can also be annoying for some users and although the UAC account control can be disabled, removing the shield on the icons will also fix the problem.
That said, below we want to show you step by step how to remove the blue and yellow shield shown on the icons of the programs or files:
1) Reinstall the app and configure compatibility
The app icon where you see these shields is usually shortcuts. This means that the UAC request will appear every time this program is run.
– The first thing will be to uninstall the application / program, and then reinstall it. Once installed, be sure not to run the app unless the rest of the steps below are completed.
– Right click on the shortcut icon and from the drop-down menu, select the option Properties.
– Go to the Compatibility tab and uncheck the option box: Run this program as administrator.
– Finally, click on the Apply button and finally on OK.
This will remove shield icons from Windows programs icons.
2) Change the UAC level thanks to its configuration.
As we have mentioned before, we already showed you this operation in one of our tutorials. If you still don’t know how to do it, we recommend reading the following link: How to disable or customize User Account Control in Windows 10. (UAC Administrator messages)
3) Use the NirCMD tool to remove the shield icon but still keep the UAC.
NirCMD is a command line utility that allows the user to run applications without displaying their UAC. We can use it to disable the UAC flag. However, it only removes the message and the icon as the program will run with administrator privileges as expected. To use it, you just have to do the following steps:
– Download the Nircmd tool by clicking on the following link: nircmd.exe
– Copy the downloaded file and paste it in the folder: C: Windows
– Right click with the mouse on the shortcut from which you want to remove the shield icon. Select the Properties option from the drop-down menu.
– In the new open window you will have to go to the tab Direct access.
– Click the ‘buttonChange icon‘and click’To accept‘without making any changes.
– Now we will have to add the term: ‘nircmd elevate’ to the beginning of the application path in the field: Start in. In this way the field should be configured in a similar way to this:
nircmd elevate <Ruta del archivo EXE del programa>
– Once configured correctly, you must Confirm the changes by clicking on the button To accept.
The administrator privileges will be ensured every time you start the program with this shortcut. However, you will not receive the UAC message.
