Although Windows 10 already incorporates a light background or theme, it was never consistent, since many elements, such as the Start menu, the Action Center, the taskbar and other elements still showed a dark background. This really was to the dislike of every user who truly wants a lighter colored background in the interface of their Windows 10 operating system.

Starting with version 1903, Windows 10 has finally introduced a complete and functional light background for the Windows 10 operating system. This light theme will make the interface display light colors and tones in all visual elements, and the result is an experience brand new that many users will appreciate. In fact, this theme will look a lot like the default background in the MacOS operating system.
This new theme is available in the Windows 10 Settings application, however it can be somewhat complicated by being confused with the previous option (not complete) of clear theme. This can mislead or complicate the actual and complete activation of the Windows Clear Theme.
That said, below we want to show you step by step how to activate or deactivate the new Claro theme in Windows 10 that will affect the entire operating system interface:
How to activate the complete Clear background of Windows 10 from the settings app.
To use the clear theme in the Start menu, the taskbar and the Action Center, you will have to do the following steps:
- Open the Windows 10 Settings app.
- Now you will have to select the Personalization option.
- Line followed accesses the Colors option.
- Use the drop-down menu in the “Choose color” section and select the CLEAR option.
Once you have completed the steps shown above, the CLEAR theme will be applied to the entire operating system interface, including the Start menu, the Action Center, and the taskbar.
If you don’t see these settings, it’s because you’re not using the latest version of Windows 10. The new Claro background is available starting with Windows 10 version 1903.
Alternatively, you can also enable the traditional light theme and apply it to the new “Windows Light” background. This can be done from Settings> Personalization> Background.
How to enable Windows 10 traditional clear theme
If you don’t want the clear Windows 10 background to be incomplete and only affect certain elements, you should use the traditional option of previous versions of the Windows 10 operating system:
- Open the Settings app.
- In the new screen you will have to click on the option: Personalization.
- Line followed you will have to select the option: Colors.
- Use the drop-down menu in the “Choose color” section and select the Custom option.
- The next step will be to focus on the section “Choose the default Windows mode” and select the option: Dark.
- Finally, in the “Choose your default application mode” section, select the Clear option.
After completing the steps, your desktop will return to the same light theme available before installing Windows 10 version 1903. This means that only the interface of the applications installed and used in your Windows 10 will be displayed in light tones and colors. The rest of the elements of the operating system such as the start menu or the task bar, will be displayed in Dark colors and tones.
