Windows 10 is one of the most customizable operating systems out there. The user has almost total control of the operating system, so they can adapt it to their needs. You have probably been in Windows File Explorer and when selecting files a small box is displayed in the upper left corner of the icon of that file, which indicates that it is marked / selected.

This is not to the liking of all users as they prefer that the selected file box not be shown. The Windows 10 operating system has a shading alternative when we select a file. In this way when we select one or more files, you will see how they are shown with a bluish shading.
However, on many occasions the selection box or checkbox (Item boxes) is enabled. The check boxes for the items are a small square, either empty or with a check mark (V-shaped) inside them, next to the icon, thumbnail, or name of each file. These squares appear in all File Explorer layout modes, including views: List and Detailed.
This feature first appeared in Windows Vista and was enabled by default in Windows 8.

1. Access the Windows 10 file explorer
2. Once here, access the tab: View
3. Locate and uncheck the option: Item boxes.
4. After unchecking this option you will see how now when you select one or more items, the deselection box is not displayed. Now you will only notice that said file is selected by a blue shading.
Alternative method
– Open Windows 10 File Explorer
– Go to the View tab
– Click on the Options icon.
– In the window that is open, go to the tab: View
– Now uncheck the option box: Use the checkbox to select items.
– Finally, you only have to click OK so that the changes take effect automatically.
