The ability to add images from Google Photos to other apps has been made a bit difficult. Since last July, Google Photos and Google Drive have been separated, which means that they will no longer sync automatically. However, there are other ways to transfer your photo files from Google Photos. One of the best ways to do this is by using the Windows 10 Photos app, which has the ability to sync with OneDrive, offering you up to 1 terabyte of storage space.

In this tutorial we show you how to seamlessly add Google Photos to the Photos application in Windows 10. Many users do not know it but the default Windows 10 Photos app has the ability to synchronize with any folder on your computer and therefore the folder in the one that you download your images and videos from Google Photo.
Currently, it is not possible to automatically export (download) Google Photos files to Google Drive or any other desktop application, not even “Backup and Sync”.
Most current applications and services will be able to upload photos to Google Photos from your computer but there is no opposite option, that is, you will not be able to enable any automatic download from Google Photos to your computer. That said, there is a chance that Google Photos will add this desired capability in the future.
In the absence of automatic syncing by default, the only option available to export your images from Google Photos is to download them manually. It’s not as hard as it looks. That said, below we show you step by step how to view the photos from Google Photos in the Photos application of Windows 10:
How to download the Google Photos forums and view them in the Windows 10 Photos app
– Go to Google Photos and once logged in, select all the photos that you want to download to your computer to be displayed in the Windows 10 Photos application.
– When everything is selected, click on the three dots icon in the upper right. Line followed you must select the Downloads option from the drop-down menu.
– This will download all the photos from your Google Photos in a compressed Zip file.
– Create a folder on your computer in which to store the ZIP file with all your photos and extract them.
– Once you have all the photos in the folder, you must open the Windows 10 Photos application.
– When the interface of the Windows 10 Photos app is displayed, you must access the Folders tab. From here you will have to select the option: Add a folder.
– This will open a small window in which you will have to select the option in blue: Add another folder
– A new window opens from which you can select the folder in which you downloaded and extracted the images from Google Photos. To confirm the action click on the blue button: Add folders
– This will make that folder be synchronized with the Windows 10 Photos application and therefore all the images that are displayed there will appear in said app. In addition, once the images and video clips from Google Photos have been successfully added to the Windows 10 Photos application, you can immediately start working with them for editing those images or videos.
As we have mentioned, currently there is no automatic download or backup function that allows you to synchronize images and videos from Google Photos with your computer, which in turn allows us to configure the Photos app so that they are displayed automatically and in real time in the Windows 10 Photos app.
