To this day the exact cause of this problem is unknown as Microsoft has not yet made any mention of these errors. However, even without knowing the real reasons for the problem, we have discovered certain solutions that can solve these problems.
Users who are experiencing the inability to receive or send e-mails in Outlook ensure that the other functions of the e-mail service work correctly, which is quite strange.
Be that as it may, below we want to show you several methods thanks to which you can solve the problems that prevent the sending and receiving of emails in Outlook.com:
Outlook.com does not send emails
1) Outlook.com cannot send emails.
If we find ourselves with the impossibility of sending emails, the truth is that it can be a big problem. In this case, although it may seem too obvious, we recommend that you check if the internet connection has any anomalies. In general, this situation is much more common than you can imagine.
2) Are you sending to the correct email address?
You may have made the mistake of sending your emails to the wrong email address, so double-check the email address you send. Also, there is a possibility that the email address you are sending the email (s) to is not working properly.
3) Undo send
– Outlook.com has an undo feature, but it is not enabled by default. Maybe I have activated this function and, by mistake, you have canceled the sending of the email before the configured time.
– To disable the undo function, click the button Setting, then select See all Outlook settings. From this option you will have to click on the Mail section, afterwards choose: Compose and reply. Finally, scroll down to the option: Cancel shipping
– Using the mouse cursor you can slide the bar to set the time to 0 to deactivate this option completely.
Outlook.com is not receiving emails
1) Check the junk folder
The first step is to check the spam tray to see if that is where the received emails are located. Go to the spam folder in Outlook.com and here, you will have to find out if this is where the received emails that you miss are sent.
If the emails are there, we suggest you right-click on the email, for the next line, select the option Mark as desired email.
By doing this, you will move the selected emails directly to the main tray of your Outlook email.
2) Check your filters
Are you using filters in Outlook? This can be one of the main reasons why you do not receive your emails in the main Windows 10 inbox. Also, it could also be the reason why you cannot send emails to other sections or folders in your account.
To make the required changes you will have to go to Settings> View all Outlook settings> Mail> Junk email and here check that the email address from which you are supposed to receive messages is not in the list of addresses that automatically send messages to the spam section.
3) Check the Other tab
Many of your emails will go to the Others inbox, rather than the main inbox. We suggest you check this inbox for missing emails. If this section is where you find the missing email, then you must select it and use the function Move to main tray.
4) Check your email rules
When it comes to checking their email rules, users need to click on the Settings icon (gear), then scroll down and select: View all Outlook settings.
The next step, then, is to select Mail, then click Rules. Once here you will have to edit or delete all the rules if there are any.
5) Are you forwarding emails to another account?
Follow the previous step and navigate back to the section that says Mail, then click the Forwarding section. From here, check if your emails are forwarded to another email account.
