The management of the files stored in iCloud Drives can be done from Apple devices but also from a web browser with internet access. This way you can for example upload, download, rename, send and delete files from iCloud Drive. However with the option we can make a mistake and by mistake delete a file that we did not want to delete.
Most cloud storage services have the option of being able to delete stored files but it also has a function that allows you to recover them in case of mistake or error. Well, iCloud Drive is no exception and obviously any user who deletes or deletes a file stored in this service in the Cloud, you can also recover the files.
Services like Dropbox offer some solutions that allow you to restore deleted files, several months after their deletion, and although iCloud is something similar, the truth is that it does not allow recovery after such long periods of time, it falls short in many ways. Be that as it may, if you have deleted a file stored in iCloud Drive and want to recover it, there are two things to keep in mind:
– Files are only available for restoration for a maximum of 30 days after deletion. After that point, these files will be lost forever.
– Restoring deleted files from iCloud Drive can generally only be recovered from your computer through the Web: iCloud.com.
The first of these two things to keep in mind means that using iCloud Drive File Restore as a reliable backup solution is not highly recommended because history doesn’t offer you a long enough recovery time. The second means that any need to restore files requires a trip to a computer.
That said, if you have mistakenly deleted a file stored in iCloud from any device, below we want to show you step by step how to recover it:
How to restore deleted files from iCloud Drive
The first thing we will have to do is open our browser and go to iCloud.com. Here we will have to log in with our Apple ID credentials.
Once inside our account you will see the Settings option in which you will have to click to access the service settings. On this screen you will have to scroll down until you find the section Advanced.
Right in it you will find the option Restore files in which you will have to click. This will open a small window in which you will have to go to the section: Restore files. Here you will find a list of files from which you will have to select the one you want to recover and then click on the button: Restore or To accept.
And that’s it from that moment on you can go to iCloud Drive to check how the previously deleted file is back on its site.
