Song search has changed a lot since Shazam revolutionized the music industry. The problem with this service is that you need the song you are interested in playing. Spotify has now just added a feature that allows you to find songs with a small fraction of the song lyrics. Well now Google Search has just taken a twist and allows you to find songs by humming or whistling.

Google has just added to its Search tools and the Google Voice Assistant the ability to find songs by simply humming, whistling or singing a song directly into the microphone of your Android phone or iPhone. In this way the sound captured by the microphone of your device will be sent to the search engine and it will search for possible matches and will show you several suggested songs.
This function is really useful when we listen to a song and it gets into our head and we do not stop humming or whistling it. If you can only hum or whistle a song but you don’t know the title of the song, now your Google voice assistant or the Google Search app for iPhone or Android will let you know what it is.
Google confirmed that the new humming tool, for now, is available only from the Assistant and Google Search. In the case of iOS, at the moment it is only in English, while if you are Android users you are in luck since it is available in 20 languages, including Spanish.
That said, below we show you step by step how to make use of the new Google function that allows you to find songs using the hum or whistle of a song on your Android phone or iPhone:

– If you use the Google voice assistant, the first thing you will have to do is use the command: Hey Google
– If you use the Google Search app, you will have to open it and click on the Microphone icon.
1. When the microphone is activated, we will have to say: “What is this song?“
Note: If the command does not work in Spanish you can try in English saying: “What is this song?“
2. This will automatically activate the function: Listening to music…
3. From this screen you will have to start humming, whistling or singing the song you want to hear directly into the microphone of your Android phone or iPhone.
4. After several seconds of humming or whistling, Google will show you the match:
– If you’ve used Google Search, the song that matches the hum will show up as one of the search results.
– If you have used the voice assistant, the matching song will be displayed within said assistant.
It should be noted that this function will largely depend on the accuracy of the hum or whistle in this way, if it is not very good, Google may show you several possible matches. In this case, you can try again or check all the suggested songs to find the one you really want to know.
